Why should I hire a professional photographer?
Professional photographers, like other artists, are business owners who provide a service to you. They bring professional experience, equipment and deliver outstanding portraits. You are hiring a professional who knows how to make you (or what ever the subject is) look awesome, using an artistic eye, the ability to put the subject at ease and the technical skill to provide you with a riveting image that everyone will notice. You are hiring a professional who can take your vision of yourself (or the subject you want captured) and mold it into a portrait that is eye-catching, truthful and new. Life is filled with moments worth keeping, so hire a professional.
How does booking a session work?
First, either call us, email us, or fill out the contact form and we will decide on a date and time for your session. Then we will meet to discuss all aspects of your session. We will discuss the specifics and you can let me know what’s most important to you about your portrait session.
How far in advance should I schedule my session?
I am typically booked 2-3 weeks in advance throughout the year and 5-6 weeks in advance during the Holiday Season (September-November).
Where does my session take place?
Sessions can take place on location or in my home studio. Possibilities include your own home, a nearby park, an urban area, etc. Feel free to share your ideas of places that are meaningful, special, and personal to you, your children, and your family. Or allow me to suggest a few creative places. The location can be decided at your pre-consultation.
How long does a session last?
We schedule 2 hours for a normal studio session and 3 hours for a location session (includes travel time).
What if I need to reschedule?
I understand life happens. Please give me 48 hours advance notice if you need to reschedule. Sessions rescheduled in advance will simply be transferred to the new date and time. If you reschedule more than twice, a 25% transfer fee will be due for further transfers.
What’s the best thing to wear for my session?
It's best to wear simple, well fitting clothing and avoid busy patterns and stripes. The location plays an important role in what to wear - you don’t normally wear “Sunday best” at your home or even at a casual park. Jeans are always a good choice. Little ones are cute with bare feet. Typically, I suggest that families don’t wear matching outfits, unless your family enjoys doing this.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my session?
Any item you want to use as a prop, such as a child’s favorite toy or blanket, dress up clothes, or a change of clothing.
My daughter is a dancer. How many costume changes can she have?
Let me know how many she has, so we can allow time for the changes.
We’ve finished our session, what happens next?
Depending on what was decided at your pre-consultation, your images can be uploaded to our secure website, a Proof Portfolio printed, or view a projected slide show.
What are your prices?
The Session Fee is $150. The Session Fee covers the photographer’s time and talent. We offer a variety of portrait styles and sizes. Classic Portraits, Canvas Gallery Wraps, Marion’s Custom Montages, Marion’s Showcase Creations are available. During your pre-consultation we will discuss your portrait needs and budget.
What form of payment do you accept and when do we pay?

Half the Session Fee is due at the time of your pre-consultation and the balance is due at the time of your Session. Payment is due when your order is placed.
